The eagle's nest of the Riviera: a medieval village clinging 400 metres above the sea, two MICHELIN stars inside its walls, a cactus garden built on the ruins of the castle, and the path Nietzsche walked down to reach the water. The addresses I give my own passengers, each with its phone number, its website and directions.
Nothing here was picked from online ratings. Four MICHELIN stars in the 2026 guide in a commune of two thousand people — two of them inside the village walls — plus two simpler tables from the same houses, also held in the guide.
All inside the walls, all at the end of a stepped lane. You do not park at them: you climb up on foot from the village car park.
Six kilometres and 400 metres of descent below the village, on the Basse Corniche.
🚕 I'll drive you there — and I'll come back for you when the meal is over. The village is pedestrian and there is only one car park, right at the bottom of the ramparts: the starred tables are a five-minute climb on foot, never a step from the car door.

The village is entirely pedestrian and stepped throughout: flat shoes essential, a pushchair impossible.
🚕 I'll drive you there. The village takes an hour and a half, garden included. Dropped at the entrance, picked up when you call.
+33 6 58 27 93 12⚠️ Every beach in Èze is at ÈZE-BORD-DE-MER, six kilometres and 400 metres of descent below the hilltop village. They are pebble beaches, backed by the railway and the Basse Corniche, and parking there is almost non-existent.
Èze-sur-Mer station is a step away: it is the only part of the commune the train reaches.
🚕 I'll drive you there. The beaches are DOWN BELOW, at Èze-Bord-de-Mer, six kilometres and 400 metres of descent under the hilltop village: on foot that is a hike, not a stroll.
+33 6 58 27 93 12Èze climbs from sea level to 600 metres in three kilometres as the crow flies. This is the section where a taxi changes everything: you start at one point and come out at another, and you never have to walk back to your car.
The path goes down far better than it goes up: 45 minutes one way, an hour and a half the other.
The Col d'Èze is at 500 metres, the park just above it. The road is tarmac and easy driving right up to the car parks.
🚕 I'll drive you there, and I'll pick you up wherever you finish. The Chemin de Nietzsche takes 45 minutes down and an hour and a half up: I drop you at the top and collect you at the bottom — that is the whole point.
+33 6 58 27 93 12Èze has no nightlife: the village closes with the shops. An evening out here means a night of astronomy up at the pass, or a dinner that runs long in one of the commune's three great houses.
Up at the Col d'Èze, in open mountain: no street lighting and no public transport at night.
Two inside the walls, one at the water's edge. You can have a drink without sleeping there.
🚕 I'll bring you home. The Astrorama is up at the Col d'Èze, in open mountain, with no lighting and no transport at night. Call me before you go up and I'll note the time.
