A village coiled like a snail above Cannes, where Picasso spent the last twelve years of his life and where Roger Vergé invented the cuisine du soleil. Today: Europe's first museum devoted to women artists, the continent's largest colony of lotus flowers, and some thirty tables. The addresses I give my own passengers, each with its phone number, its website and directions.
Mougins has called itself a village of gastronomy since Roger Vergé opened Le Moulin here in 1969. The list has moved a great deal: two tables are in the MICHELIN guide's selection, one house has taken on the village's two-star chef, and two others still carry Vergé's mark.
The village is entirely pedestrian, coiled around its square. The car park is below it and fills up by midday.
Three addresses out in the Mougins countryside, between the village and Cannes. None of them can be walked to.
🚕 I'll drive you there — and I'll come back for you when the meal is over. The old village is pedestrian and its car park is tiny: driving up on a summer evening means twenty minutes of circling for nothing.
+33 6 58 27 93 12The old village is a snail shell: one street winding round the square, and the whole of it takes an hour. What matters most is two kilometres away, out in the country: the chapel in front of which Picasso settled to die.
Pedestrian, level once you are up, and full of galleries. All of it is free.
No pavement, no bus: this is a drive, not a walk from the village.
🚕 I'll drive you there. The old village takes an hour; Picasso's chapel is two kilometres away, out in the countryside, with no transport and no pavement.

A hundred metres apart, in the lanes.
🚕 I'll drive you there. FAMM and the photography centre are a hundred metres apart, inside the village: one morning, one single trip.
+33 6 58 27 93 12Down on the plain, Mougins has a piece of wild country nobody expects to find there: the largest colony of lotus flowers in Europe, inside a departmental park of several hundred hectares, five minutes from the traffic of Cannes.
Access and parking at the edge of the park. No café and no shop inside: bring water.
🚕 I'll drive you there, and I'll come back for you. The Étang de Fontmerle sits inside the Valmasque park, away from everything: no bus, no café, and no shade in the car park.
+33 6 58 27 93 12Mougins has no nightclub: an evening here means a concert hall, a village cinema, or — every other year — a cookery festival that fills the whole old village for four days.
Both venues are in the lower part of the commune, not in the old village.
Only one house of this standing is open in Mougins in 2026: the Manoir de l'Étang, the other historic address, is closed for works until 2027.
🚕 I'll bring you home. Mougins has no nightlife but it has a theatre, a cinema and, every other year, a festival that fills the whole village. Call me beforehand and I'll note the time.
